Shoppers Voice coupon's Arrived

I did this survey awhile back and almost forgot about it.  I need to write things down and keep track a little better.  I'm not real good at that.  It was a great mail week so far.  This included finish and breath right strips and about 50 coupons.  I see some of the coupons are of higher value as well.  If you are interested  visit www.ShoppersVoice.ca  for more information.

Easter Sales!

I stopped in at Shopper's Drug Mart yesterday to pick up milk and found they were putting their easter goodies on sale.  I couldn't resist so my adult kids now have easter chocolate.

I so wish I had watched and waited for sales and used coupons when they were younger. We could have saved so much money.

Paid just under $8.00 for all the items in the picture.  Did you find any good deals this month?

My End of March Budget Totals!

I really need to be more careful at No Frills.  It has happened more than once where they miss a coupon or gas ticket. It happened again.  She missed a $3.09 gas ticket.  Oh that bugs me but my own fault.  I can only imagine how many times I was never aware of these mistakes in the past twenty years or so.  This may seem small but think of it over 20 years for a bigger picture.  Example $1.00 a week (charged more)x 52 weeks= $52.00 x 20 years well $1040.00 and thats just an example of errors we don't check really.  Any way I was over charged on my Chapmans Ice cream at Giant Tiger last week and I did say something.. Im glad I did they gave a $5.00 gift card.  I got 4 loafs of bread no charge. So in the picture I used gas tickets, FPC, $10.00 shoppers gift card, $5.00 GT card and CT money. Value after sales was about $53.00.  I paid $5.86 without the No Frills error should have been $2.77 with tax. Things hard to see 1 kg keewee, and celery stock.

So here are my totals for March
Money spent on groceries and takeout $391.55
Coupons savings $185.73

Total YTD

Money spent on groceries and takeout since Jan 1/12   $1230.08
Coupons savings since Jan1/12  $606.49

Im seeing the savings after 3 months.  Are you tracking and seeing saving.  Let me know share in a comment below.  I would love to know how your coupon/savings are going!

My Budget Update For March!

This was my last week to shop for March (using money).  Next week is cheap week.  I hope I can pull it off.  I did go over slightly this week. (again).  Here's my weeks totals.

Money spent on household (groceries, takeout)  $106.95
Coupons used $35.13

Learned a few things more this week.  If you can hold out using coupons (meaning you have enough of somethings) do so!  I'm well stocked up on soap and body wash for a long while.  Had I waited to buy the Ivory body wash I could have gotten it all free this week at No frills. (I did get 4 bottles free though). It was on sale for a $1.49 each so with the $3.00 off when you buy 2 it would have been all free.  Old spice body wash was on sale as well $1.49 each I managed to get 4 bottles free.  I missed out on the satin care at $.99 because I had already used my coupons could have be free too.  Oh well lesson learned.  Also got 3 bottles of resolve laundry stain remover free.  I love free.  Good week for free stuff!

Next week I have around $10.00 in gas tickets at No Frills (hubby will fill up on the weekend so I don't have an exact amount yet). Some money on the card (CT money) and a shoppers gift card for $10.00. Also 2 FPC unless more come in the mail!!!

If you would like to share how your budget is going please do I would love to know!

The BEST Hamburger Bun's Recipe I 've Tried!

http://www.canadianliving.com/food/baking_and_desserts/the_best_hamburger_buns.php

I think this is a great recipe for hamburger's buns they turned out really good for my 1st time.  I will  try it again and again.  I altered it slightly as I used half whole wheat flour. Also the baking pan I used is dark so will try adjusting the tempature to 375 instead of 400.  Having a breadmaker to nead the dough is great I recomend if you don't have one to invest in one if its in your budget.  It takes some time letting the dough rise but well worth it!

Thanks Canadian Living!

Sometimes it's the little things that make me happy!

Sometimes it's the little things that make me happy!  6 months ago I wouldn't have run to Shopper's Drug Mart just to get a couple little bottles of  Pine Sol for $.10 nor would I pop into Canadian Tire and grab some foil and plastic wrap because it was $.50 each.  Let alone use CT money to pay for it.  I would have bought the foil and plastic wrap if I was at the store and happen to have seen it.  I never use to check flyers regularly nor did I look forward to finding coupon inserts in my flyers.  I hate to say it but I used to throw out the coupon inserts. (shame on me)! and to tell you the truth I don't even know why I started couponing in the first place.  Maybe because I had too much time on my hands  after closing my cleaning business in July last year.  Anyways I love my new hobby. So some people may not buy  unpopular foil and plastic wraps thinking their junk but I find the plastic wrap in the picture actually clings better than glad and as for the foil I use it all the time to cover baking sheets when I cook so there's less mess so cheap is better for me.

Canadian Tire
Aluminum Foil 2x $.50 = $1.00
Plastic wrap 2x $.50 = $1.00
Friskies cat food (not my cat but he lives in my house) 1x $1.09
Total $3.24
Used CT money paid $.24

Shopper's Drug Mart

Pine Sol sale $.99 x 2 used 1.00 coupon x2
Paid  $.10 tax

So Total paid $.34 and got back $.05 CT money.

Free to me (LOL)

What deals did you find?
Have a nice weekend!

So here are my totals to date. Still hope I can go lower, but  overall not bad. .                              .
This week spent $109.54 coupons, CT, (including 2x $5.00 CT scratch cards

Poly to Go at Walmart!

I was at Walmart yesterday and while waiting in the express check out I saw Poly to Go was reduced from $6.98 to $3.47.  So when I got home I thought I would see if there were any coupons out for it.  I found a $3.00 one at www.polysporin.ca .  So i went back today they had 5 on the shelf.  Unfortunatley the expire date was Nov 11 and Oct 11 on 4 for of them but I did get one with a Nov 12 expiry date.. I think I will keep an eye on this one.  Anyone find any good deals this weekend do share.!!

Coupon Coffee Time ! Grab A Cup I need to Vent!

So I have never posted anything like this before and it is not intended to ruin anybody's credibility but instead bring awareness to people. I love looking at pages that post their coupon deals and savings.  I think you can learn alot just reading and viewing the pictures.  Its also nice when they give you a run down of how they got to the final amount paid on their shopping trip.  Now I don't teach couponing, run classes or sell How to coupon books.  Some people need or want these things to help them have a better  knowledge on couponing but I don't think they are really necessary to become good at couponing but coupon partys would probably be very fun.  I have not head of them where I live though. Now thats just my opinion.  My page was created more to find out how much I will save in 1 year with couponing and trying to stick to a budget. People who coupon have made claims that they have saved 1000's of dollars couponing so I want to see what I can save. With that being said I like sharing my deals as well. Ok so I was excited to see a facebook page the other day and check out the haul she brought home.  She as alot of experience and shares alot with everyone about couponing. Her shopping trip brought alot home and she paid nothing. Value I beleive was around $700.00. WOW amazing!  Well I want to do that too!.  Im sure everyone who coupons wants to do that as well.   Well questions were asked some answered and some not but if you have been couponing even for a short time you as like myself would be curious and maybe research some of the methods she used to bring home so much and pay nothing. Now thats what I did and found there is no way I will be able to do what she did.  It will not be because the cashier is stupid or the employees or managers don't know the policies or follow them it will be because the Walmart she shops at is not following policies.  What bothers me is she teaches couponing and even sells a book.  Now last week I saw several pages posting an article on why we shouldn't watch Extreme Couponing. ( Lies and deception)  its a TV show not even filmed in Canada.  Umm! So some of you may know what im talking about and some not.  So here is what I questioned and was told by Walmart that in fact Walmart will not lose anything from these transaction but the manufacturers will.  These transaction are in no way suppose to be practised and again anyone who teaches couponing should no this really is illegal.  So what she did is used alot of overage on coupons. Really what a great idea here some examples of coupons that apparently you if you know what your doing you can get overage on UMM!!!  Now Im not saying these are coupons she used these are examples of the type of coupons!

Ok let say these are on sale $3.00 but the total value the store can claim is $4.00 so this should be claimed as $4.00 and you will recieve $1.00 overage and let say we have 10 WOW $10.00 overage right WRONG!! Seriously.
Ok let say these are on sale $2.99 but the total value the store can claim is $4.99 so this should be claimed as $4.99 and you will recieve $2.00 overage and lets say we have 10 WOW $20.00 overage right WRONG!! Seriously now we are at $30.00 and we can apply this to our other items we are purchasing great deal right.  So are you seeing anything wrong here I do!  Should I go on no enough said I hope Im getting pissed off sorry!
Anyways here is my email to Walmart and I did get a phone call back telling me that using these coupons and claiming them at a full value is considered fraud if they are purchased on a sale price but claimed on full value.

So I hope I didn't offend anyone or crush your dreams of shopping at Walmart and getting a whole lot for nothing I just want to express my opinion and I really hope that the use of coupons are not abused knowingly because in the end it will ruin it for everyone who is excited about coupons and saving money using them. Please leave a comment good or bad if you like and feel free to share this with others who coupon.  Everyone should be aware that there are savings using coupons and there shouldn't be exceptions for anyone regardless on how coupons are used and how much you donate or know about couponing.  Thanks for reading  I'm doing a draw for some coupons if you would like to enter leave a comment below or on my facebook page under this link saying enter me! I will do the draw next Wednesday.  You have to like my page to enter.  Thats it waiting for your comments now. Thanks again for reading.

The day after Valentine's Day!

Decided to spend a little cig saving money on Valentines Day sale items at Shopper's.  I got some great little items for future gifts just hope I can stay away from the chocolates. (LOL no really). The total with tax was $24.99 I used $10.00 OP's so I paid $14.99.  My bill reads  You have saved $150.46.  So glad we didn't buy anything yesterday!

Karen

Do you buy refills for these soap dispensers!

Im sure Lysol would prefer we buy the refills for these but I find they cost more than other soap refills.  So I thought I would see if I popped the top off if it would still work without spilling and it does. Im not sure if it will work over and over but in the meantime I can use it and wait for a sale.
I think lysol should make the bottle refillable.  It would be better on the enviroment.  Any thoughts?

Grocery tracker Update!

So my link to grocery alerts coupon tracker won't seem to update for me so I had to do it manually.  I didn't find to many deals today.
The best was at SDM the Royal facial tissue was on sale for $2.99 with $2.00 coupon $.99 for 6 boxes.  For some reason they were ringing in at $3.49 and $1.49 weird I got them from the same spot just different color boxes.  Nice deal though I bought 18 boxes of facial tissue and a dozen eggs paid $3.31
.
Best deal I found at Safeway was Red Hot $2.50 a bottle used $1.00 coupon = $1.50.

Total money spent on groceries today was $64.71.  Total spent since Jan1/12 $609.46.  Total saved using coupons since Jan1/12 $357.11.

Total saved on cigs to date since Jan 17/12 $107.93.

Will do a little more shopping through the week still would like to go to Sobeys and NoFrills.

Deals I spotted at Walmart today!

I didn't really need anything today and usually won't shop at Walmart on a weekend but I waited until about 4:30 and it wasn't to busy. I knew if anything I was buying another mustard for $.25.  While there I thought I might check out why some people are looking for the Braun coupon for $15.00.  I know the deal I found may not be what other people used this coupon for but I think its a good deal.  This Braun shaver was reg price at Walmart for $139.97 mark down to $40.00 with the coupon $25.00.  London Drugs has a Braun Series 3 shaver marked at $139.99.  I think the deal I found is pretty good even better with the coupon. Then the Mr. Clean was on a shelf for $2.00 but was ringing in at $3.59 so after showing the teller where I found these and verifying the $2.00 find the 6 were rung in at $2.00 each and with the $4.00 off when you buy 3 I paid $4.00 for 6 not bad.  My total bill with tax came to $31.85.  Cal likes his new shaver.

Making foamy hand Soap!

So I have been wanting to try this for awhile but was waiting for the bottle to be empty.  I think it is really neat and will save money on hand soap. I rinsed out the empty foam hand soap container and filled the bottle about and inch and a quarter with dial hand soap and filled the rest of the bottle leaving a bit of room to replace dispenser without spilling.  Mixed by turning the closed bottle up and down.
Results are foamy hand soap.  Neat.  Im not sure if this will work with a cream hand soap and be sure to use a container with the foamer in the dispenser. I think I may have to invest in a couple more containers though.  I will be watching for a good sale .

Do you remember these?

I was doing a little decluttering today and I found these with a ton of change in a box of junk.  I just wanted to share.

January's Grocery Budget

I have saved a total of $268.58 since January  1, 2012. Tracker available at http://www.groceryalerts.ca/coupontracker/

So I have now tracked our grocery and takeout dinners for the full month of January.  Our total spent for January is $445.13.  It seems  high I would like it to be less for February but considering takeout is included I don't think its all bad.  I have learned a few things about sticking to a budget. (1) Make a list of what you need and stay diciplined.  (2) Keep a little extra for things you may forget. (3) Always check your sales and match ups before you go shopping.  (4) Don't leave your coupon binder in your shopping cart and drive away. (5) Save a little bit for those hard to resist greats sales with coupons. I have so much more to learn but couponing is helping set my goals for our budget and Im having fun doing it. Did anyone else track their savings and spending in January?

2 weeks smoke free!

Well its the end of January time record my savings.  2 weeks today smoke free and I find its going pretty well.  Total savings before a little help was $82.00.  Had some freebies which was great ended up spending $12.66 on the nicorette.  Not to bad considering the price of a pack of cigarettes.  I think being frugual may acually help me beat this.  Total savings for January is $69.34.

Im using the groceryalerts coupon tracker!

I have saved a total of $259.72 since January 1, 2012. Tracker available at http://www.groceryalerts.ca/coupontracker/
I have been using groceryalerts coupon tracker to track my coupon savings since the beginning of January. I 'm am finding it very handy.  It really is helping me track my spending. I have never tracked for a whole year what we spend and save but I have become very curious since I have heard people saving thousand of dollars a year using coupons.  If you really want to track your coupon saving and need a little help give it a try!
As of today our total grocery and take out for the month of January is $421.38.  This may seem alot or not to some but for us I know it is less than what it was last year at this time.

My Rexall deals Jan 28/ 2012

I always like to check and see what kind of instore deals Rexall is having even if the advertised flyers don't really have anything Im interested in. I found some Hearty Thai Noodles on sale for $.27 each.  A pouch of cranberry snack for $1.27. Johnsons natural baby wash on sale for $3.99 and with my $2.00 off coupon $1.99. Jergens overnight lotion with bonus on sale for $3.99 and I had a coupon for $1.50 off.  The best deal was the Nice and Easy hair colour on for $4.47 each.  I was a little concerned that the product was old but the the sales lady said it was a promotion that came in at Christmas and because it has the bonus Root touch Up it doesnt fit on their shelves.  Ok LOL I had a coupon for $5.00 off when you buy 2 Nice & Easy hair products. In the end my bill came to $11.68 no to bad.

No Frills Jan 27/2012

I went to No frills yesterday I wanted to get the Oral B toothbrushes that have been on sale for the last few weeks but they never seem to have them in.  I will try again during the week and maybe I can score some free toothbrushes. I did pick up the deodarant which was on sale for $1.88 and when using the PG brandsaver coupons ($1.00 off) I was able to get them for $.88 each. The Nutigrain Bars are on sale for $1.99 and with a $1.00 off coupon on 1 box and another $.75 on the other box it was a nice savings.  15 pack of water on sale for a dollar, I always hate having to correct the cashier so I try to do so as friendly as possible her till scanned it at $1.99 and I didn't realize until I got in the car,  Needless to say I did go back in and she was very good with the error and refunded my entire water purchase.  Deposit and all $3.64 (scaning code of practise).  My entire bill came to $5.79. Just a few items at great prices.
